Barbara, this gig went well. I performed "Heard It Through the
Grapevine, and a couple of other tunes. I love blues and I love
Marvin Gaye. Had a ball. Dennis Montgomery deserves mention. He
thoroughly and without shame destroyed his Hammond organ and sang
his butt off. :-) |

Performance
at the North Sea Jazz Festival. This gig was incredible. I saw
an old friend who I haven't seen in ten years. Played with Danny
Gotlieb for the first time together. We both accommodated each
other and I told him I experienced the impression that he and
I are long lost brothers separated at birth. Originally I thought
two drums might not be fun, but it was indeed loads of fun. Musically
we both know the music of Gil Evans intimately. We were willing
to listen to each other and we developed much wonderful material
over time. We did an interview together, too. I learned of his
close relationship with Joe Morello and We both learned of the
difference between the Moeller technique and the Woodstroke technique
which I developed. |

at the Umbria Jazz Festival in Peruggia. Incredible (3) night
after night we developed new stuff and each night was a gem in
its own right. I taught Danny the woodstroke... the rhythm. Danny
and Beth and Kenwood had a ball jogging. |

me the "cheese" a flam followed by a paradiddle diddle. I had
fun using it as part of the Wood stroke. |

in Bologna. We had a great gig despite weather problems. It started
raining. I prayed hard on the stage for the rain to stop and for
us to have a great show. Eventually it happened- and many many
people patiently waited. We performed entirely acoustically. None
of the electronics were useable including electric bass or synths.
Gil Goldstein played accordion. Danny and I played drums and percussion.
The horns sounded magnificent. |

was fun. Miles Evans asked me to end off the show with a drum
solo. So I listened carefully to the audience's clapping and played
along with their tempo. I wound up singing and playing Cloudburst"
by John Hendrix as a funky fast go-go piece. |
